The North-West Frontier

The North-West Frontier
Major-General Richard Hilton

The North-West Frontier, A True Story for Boys, provides a history of one of the most remote regions of the British Empire, the North-West Frontier (the modern-day border between Pakistan and Afghanistan). Major-General Richard Hilton provides an exciting and digestible history of this region and of the British colonialism in India, seeking to answer “Why were we there?” and “What good did we do?”.

Major-General Richard Hilton himself served in the British Army in this region for twelve years and was therefore intimately familiar with the region and its people.  The North-West Frontier was originally published in 1957. This book was written for a target group between ages 8 and 14, and as such is written in a simpler language than Richard Hilton’s other books, but it still provides an exciting story for all ages. The book also comes with illustrations, which have been restored by S. D. Smith.

Written by the author of Imperial Obituary and The Thirteenth Power.
